About the role

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in meeting our clients’ engineering briefs and designing the structural elements of various projects. Your responsibilities will include:

• Coaching and mentoring company Engineers to support their CPD or CPEng pathway
• Peer Reviews of structural jobs
• Completing site inspections in line with the company designs and producing associated PS4s as required
• Liaising with client and their subcontractors through the process and agreeing scope of job and fees
• Building excellent client relationships through prompt communication and proactively informing clients of job progress or delays
• Taking full job scope from the client at the beginning of the job and guide the Project Co-Ordinator in gathering all the relevant information to assist with this
• Complete engineering designs and reports for structural jobs including residential and commercial/industrial using steel, timber, steel and concrete adhering to NZ Codes of Practice
• Producing structural working drawings using AutoCAD or hand sketches as appropriate for the client, timeframe and job scope/quote

Successful applicants will possess: 

• Chartered Professional Engineer or Washington Accord Engineering Degree nearing CPEng.
• Engineering NZ registration.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Structural Engineer in a consultancy environment.
• Broad understanding of residential and commercial requirements
• Deep understanding of structural solutions using steel, timber, and concrete.
• Knowledge of current rules, regulations, and building codes.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with Time/Cost systems and Design Software (E-TABS preferred).
